Breaking the Monopoly, Uncorking the Future of Indian Wine
The story of Wine Retail Centers (WRC) begins not in a vineyard, but in the chaos and complexity of India’s traditional retail landscape—particularly in Maharashtra, the heart of Indian wine production. For years, our founding team, drawn from diverse backgrounds in marketing, distribution, and viticulture, watched a troubling pattern unfold. Promising Indian wineries and passionate importers were routinely sidelined—not by the quality of their wines, but by the harsh realities of a monopolistic retail structure. Large retail groups dictated shelf placements, demanded unsustainable discounts, and imposed hidden costs that drained the spirit (and margins) of emerging wine brands.

Many brands struggled to survive, not because they lacked excellence, but because they lacked access.

We knew something had to change.
WRC was born out of this realization: a belief that the wine industry in India—especially Indian wineries—deserves a fair, transparent, and premium retail environment. A space where producers are partners, not pawns. A space where consumers aren’t merely sold to—but educated, engaged, and empowered to explore the vast world of wine.

Our journey began with a single goal: to build India’s first professionally-managed, temperature-controlled, wine-exclusive retail platform—one that’s free from the pressures of traditional cartels and unfair trade practices.

Each Wine Retail Center is designed as a wine destination, where shelves are rented, not bought by coercion, and where every brand, whether domestic or international, gets a fair chance to shine.

But WRC is more than just retail. It's a movement. We are creating a culture. Through curated tastings, wine clubs, workshops, and sommelier-led events, we aim to educate Indian consumers and celebrate the art of wine drinking. We want to inspire the next generation of wine lovers and give Indian wines the platform they truly deserve.
